Lately I've been looking at my life so far and thinking of all the miracles and blessings that have come into my life, and have realized more fully the hand of the Lord in my life:
My little brother Aaron is SOOO CUTE! (and is getting a wish granted from make a wish foundation btw So happy for him)
I've always been blessed with good friends
I got a 5 year academic scholarship
I learned Ukrainian
I went on a mission
I got in to nursing school
I finished nursing school (magna cum laude at that)
and lately....I landed my dream job!
Ok, so now you're so curious what my dream job is yeah?
University of Utah Hospital Maternal Newborn
If you don't understand quite how awesome that is, let me help you. I have been applying for jobs for over 6 months now. I've had applied to over 100 places and interviewed at least 5 places. IHC, the biggest hospital organization/thingy in Utah only hires 2% of their new grad applicants. Many students cannot get a job in a hospital straight after school unless their mom is director of nursing, they worked as a CNA there, and did their school clinical work on that same floor. I have not worked as a CNA (or had much of any medical background except nursing school), I did my clinical work in a hospital that only hired one out of at least 15 SUU students, and my mother is definitely not a director of nursing. Many Grads can still be looking for a job for more than a year after graduation. Gone are the days where nurses walk in, choose their position, and get hired like that. Yes, even in the medical field jobs are hard to come by. So not only did I get a job in a real live hospital, but I also got into maternal newborn, the area I wanted. Often, you need to work your way up to that and start in med surg.
I can't wait! I start tomorrow. I'm a little nervous, feel like I've forgotten a lot from school. But I am so grateful for this opportunity!
