Mumford & Sons

Went to my first real concert. It was amazing!  If you don't know them, let me educate.

Lines from another good song:

And there will come a time, you'll see, with no more tears.
And love will not break your heart, but dismiss your fears.
Get over your hill and see what you find there,
With grace in your heart and flowers in your hair.

new car

I did a really adult thing on July 2, 2012, I went to Ken Garff Honda Downtown, and bought my first brand new car, a 2012 Honda Civic!!!

I am so in love with this car.  That sounds a little vain, but I should right? Cuz I'll be paying for it for a while.  Yay for air conditioner, the peace of mind that I can go somewhere and won't be left stranded, a CD player, the ability to plug in my Ipod without a cassette converter, not having to worry about not passing inspection, etc.

I am so blessed! In Ukraine, there was this one guy, he was kind of rude because he kind of mocked our church, and that we were missionaries, then proceeded to brag about how he is totally in the same level as us americans because he owns a car, it's kind of sad that he had to put us down to make him feel better.  I feel so grateful that I live in this country, that it was so easy to get a college education, that I am paid well, with benefits, in good working conditions, doing something I love.  That I can live the american dream, and that I can move out of my parents house even though I am not married!  Mindy and I decided that we are finally going to be roommates after being bestest of friends for 3 years.  I am super excited!!! We are moving to a way nice townhouse in west jordan!

to tell my 16 yr old self

1. Life gets better.  really.  like a lot lot lot better. But you can still enjoy where you are now.
2. Being yourself is ok, it's fun even, and people like you better for it
3. Don't put up with people's crap.  Don't believe what they tell you about how stupid, immature, naive, etc. or how you are stupid for dreaming big dreams.
4. DREAMS really come true.
5. Let go and just have fun.  You don't have to carry the world on your shoulders.
6. People don't generally care so much about how you look, or pay attention to every move, word, or clumsy moment.  It's OK to laugh about it. People do forget.
7. Your parents are awesome, but you need to be yourself, even if sometimes it feels like you're going against them.  Remember, they are new at this too.
8. Don't believe that to have any friends you have to stay in a group, and hate everyone/thing they hate, and like everything/one they like.  If you can't still be their friends they aren't worth it anyways.
9. No matter what your teachers say, you will get into college, and actually it is really not that much different, even a little easier from your load in high school.  So don't stress about it.
10.  You are awesome.  Like seriously, original, talented, full of purpose, awesome.  And you will do great things.

Spring Adventures

I love not being in school anymore and with this warm weather coming, I just can't seem to stay at home.  In  February my best friend Cyann had a baby so me and my best friend Mindy rented a car (because we can now without those ridiculous fees!) and drove to New Mexico to visit her.  It was perfect!  More details here.

Also in February I got braces.  You can see them if you look closely.  I only have to wear them for a year! (hopefully) I can't wait to get them off, but so happy with the results so far after only 3 months!

In March I took my brother Garrett to Las Vegas and let him drive!...(scary!) but it wasn't too bad, he's a pretty good driver.  Sorry most of these pictures suck, we forgot a camera so we bought a disposable one, and most of them didn't turn out. I feel so old because I remember the days when that is all you had.

Driving through the boring part. haha

We stopped at Parawan gap.  If you look real closely you can see writings on the rocks.

Apparently these rocks may have been used as a sundial by ancient native americans.

While in vegas we did mostly the free things, like explore M&M world and go in all the cool buildings.

and the bellagio fountains

and flamingos!

But I did spend a little money, we went to the top of the fake Eiffel tower!

Birds eye view of the fountains from the tower.

I love this kid!  Happy 17th Birthday!!!
(we may or may not go again when you are 21 and we may or may not gamble hee hee.)

Last week Mindy and I went camping in Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons.  I didn't take pictures, but she did, maybe she'll post about it and I'll provide a link.
Mostly, there were buffalo EVERYWHERE!!! (oh and stupid drivers that were so amazed at the bison that when they finally did get out of the road, they wouldn't move their freaking cars) We also saw 5 bears.  one was like 20 feet away off the side of the road! scary! especially because Mindy brought along a book called something like "How To Die in Yellowstone" that tells about all the ways stupid people have died due to bears, bison, moose, swimming in hot springs, lightening, etc. But we are still alive! yay!

Did you know that this picture was taken in the Tetons? So BEAUTIFUL!!!! Now if only I could take a picture like that.  But we did go to this very spot.  When I see something like this, it just takes my breath away.  God loves us! There just is no question about that!I love nature! I guess I should be better about taking pictures.  I'm too perfectionist and I get upset when I can't take cool pictures, and because I'm not very photogenic.  Maybe I should take a photography class (and buy a camera).  Speaking of classes, on Friday my roommate Elisabeth and I took a Cuban cooking class at our neighborhood Harmon's of City Creek.  Super delicious! One day soon we'll have a Cuban party and cook it all.  Yesterday I went to Lagoon with Mindy, Lynsie and Chelsey.  Yay for having friends! And that's 3 months in a nutshell.
